Hostel Warden is responsible for the following actions:

Hostel life is considered as an informal form of education. The out of house experience provides an environment favorable for self learning and maximize opportunities of the students could also be nurtured and supported through living in community/friendly environment.

The main role of the hostel warden is the provision of pastoral care (spiritual guidance) and intellectual guidance to the residents of the hostel. The hostel warden deals with any problem that arises, provides a sense of stability and act as a source of advice for any one in difficulty. She is also responsible for some basic house keeping, ensuring that the place is kept clean and maintain an environment conducive for learning and safe for living. The hostel warden may develop a homely atmosphere at the hostel.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an attendance register and verify the attendance of all the residents at a particular notified time i.e. 3:00pm
• To plan for up gradation of Facilities in the hostels.
• To ensure maintenance of Discipline in and around the Hostel
• Warden is custodian and in-charge of all the hostel properties. Warden has to verify the stock periodically.
• Maintain a record of the real relations with photographs and copy of ID cards who are authorized to pick /drop students in hostel
• A time table for various activities in the hostel should be developed and placed at the notice board, i.e. Breakfast time, Lunch time, Dinner time, Sports time, TV time and study time.
• Common rooms should be maintained with TV, newspaper and periodicals.
• Arrangements should be made for indoor games
• She should provide practical help to students with basic life skills e.g. personal hygiene and time management
• She should maintain discipline and an exemplary atmosphere of higher learning and excellent etiquettes
• Should ensure that hostel rules are followed in letter and spirit
• Assign and coordinate work of domestic staff in the hostel
• Should sign leave pass of students after proper verification from the record of students
• She should start a campaign to change the life style of the students and the students should be encouraged to practice the followings:-
  • Every student should recite the Holy Quran in the morning
  • Every student should make her self punctual for five time prayer
  • Every student should give maximum time to studies

• Should promptly SMS the information of students departure and arrival on the personal Cell numbers of parents

• Should ensure proper disposal of garbage including sanitary pots etc. from the hostel
• She should have record of all emergency phone numbers of students and authorities
• Must check unauthorized use of electrical appliances
• Should maintain the record of visitors
• Keep track of room allocation and inspect all the rooms daily
• Not allow outsiders to stay for night in hostel
• Responsible for the security and safety of the students
• Should ensure the dress codes, particularly students coming to attend classes should be in proper uniform
• Must keep a duplicate key box
• Should make sure and check periodically that any objectionable item poster is not present in the rooms of any student
• Shall ensure/watch that no student should smoke, consume alcohol and other intoxicating drugs in the hostel
• Must ensure that no student should be allowed to take part in politics or no one should invite the politician in the hostel
• Must be alert to check that no student should keep or use any type of weapon or fire arms in the hostel
• She should organize a committee of students under her supervision who should focus of the following:-

• Promote growth and development of students with coherent views of knowledge, integrity, intellectual and social perspective
• Construct a resident hostel curriculum the teaches students respect, altruism, aspiration, persistence, empathy and leadership
• Create an environment where students get together and where differences are respected.

• Required to create /maintain the educational living environment free from disputes, dislikes, where students realize their responsibilities and mutual respect

Kitchen:

• The in-charge should help the students to organize a mess committee. The committee should critically watch the functioning of the mess including purchases and supplies.
• She should periodically visit the Kitchen and monitor the levels of cleanliness of all the cooking items and the utensils.
• The cook should be informed of any negligence and deficiency. Cook should follow the hygienic standards and store the left over food in a proper manner.
• Students are required to take/collect the food from the counter and return the utensils at the designated places.
• Timing for food serving should be notified.

Requirement

Minimum Bachelor's degree with computer skills in MS Office and 2-3 years of relevant experience
